This was a tough category to review, and we saw some negative customer reviews for the 5-speed model. In our home, we're kind of have the old Tim Allen slogan, "more power", and we chose the 9-speed professional model because we do an inordinate amount of mixing. However, if your needs are much less, I think you can very well get by with the basic 3-speed model, and for moderate amounts of hand mixing, we would recommend the 7-speed model or more.
